How to Use
There a number of ways this pack can be used. The advanced options would relate to a child that has mastered the basics principals of these cards already, regular practice overtime will help with this but it’s important to remember that each child learns at their own pace and using these cards should be used to try make learning fun. See the following for a few examples:
- Simply let your child play with the cards at their leisure so they can get familiarised with the symbols and words.
- Children can practice tracing the numerical symbol on the card with their finger so it helps their mind remember the shapes and strokes that the number has.
- Ask your child to say the number on the card out loud according the written word and numerical symbol and then flip the card over and help them count the stars on the back or have them count the stars out loud themselves to you. Advanced Option: To add a bit more of a challenge before flipping the card over to see how many stars are on the back, ask them to put the amount of larger stars in front of them that they think the numerical symbol equals. Then once they have counted and placed out their larger stars in front of them, flip the flash card over so they can see how many stars they should have put out according to the number of stars indicated on the flash card. (See video)
- Ask or help your child to put the cards in numerical order from 1 to 10 or 10 to 1. Try firstly with the numbers and words facing up. Advanced Option - As the child is more familiar with counting the stars on the back have them order the star side in numerical order from 1 to 10 or 10 to 1.
- Advanced Option - Practice Spelling - whilst the flashcard is flipped to the side of the engraved stars ask them to spell the number as a word, then flip the card over again to see the numerical symbol and word, so the child can see for themselves if they have spelt the word correctly and remind them of what the lettering and what the word looks like.
Care instructions – When necessary, wipe clean with a damp cloth, do not submerge in water. Always lay wood flat to dry and do not use in dishwasher. Its also better to use them on a flat smooth surface.
Disclaimer – The engraving can be slightly darker or lighter on some cards depending on the nature of the natural wood. Also these wooden cards products show the true and natural wood grain which varies slightly in colour between pieces, but this adds to the natural beauty and quality of the cards.
