As the name suggests these little birds have a distinct chatacteristic to flick/wag their tail feathers side to side. In Australian Aboriginal folklore and dreamtime stories they are featured as liars, stealers of fire and secrets. And believe it or not these birds can be quite fiesty, they have been known to hassle much larger birds such as magpies, kookaburras and wedge tail eagles if they are deemed to be in their territory. Also during this territorial display their little white eyebrows become more prominent and flared. All of that said they are very special unique Aussie bird ♡

All the earrings in this Aussie Flock collection are my own hand drawn designs of iconic Australian Birds, handpainted and put together by me in the Australian Monaro/Snowy Mountain region. Each earring is made from eucalypt wood (and acrylic for the stud dangles) and hypoallergenic stainless steel posts and backings.
